PhD researcher Katharina Wilfert (Global Change Ecology Centre, EcoSphere research group) is one of the recipients of the 2026 Vocatio Scholarship. Vocatio is a Belgian public-benefit foundation that supports young talents in pursuing their passion or life project. Laureates are selected by a jury of experts and receive a €10,000 scholarship, as well as access to an extensive network of laureates and experts. Katharina receives the scholarship for her research on aquatic plants and the impact of river flow on their survival. She aims to better predict how aquatic vegetation responds to changing flow conditions and gain greater insight into how plants cope with climate change. Thanks to Vocatio’s support, Katharina can further develop her research and contribute to a better understanding of the resilience of freshwater ecosystems.
