We are pleased to share that Refugee Stories, a new documentary executive produced by network member Olivier Sterck alongside Alexander Betts, will premiere on 26 March 2026 at the DOCVILLE Festival in Leuven.
The film offers a data-driven look at daily life in Kenya’s Kakuma refugee camp. Rather than focusing on the exceptional cases that often dominate media coverage, Refugee Stories presents a rare and more representative portrait of camp life. By following five individuals across five different income levels, the documentary provides nuanced insight into the complexity of Kakuma as a micro-society and challenges simplified narratives about refugee life.
Directed by Christian Baobab and Raphael Bradenbrink, and produced by Raphael Bradenbrink, Madison Bakewell, and Olivier Sterck, the film was shot and edited through a collaboration spanning Kenya, Belgium, and the UK.
More details and tickets are available on the DOCVILLE Festival website.
