Reading room

The Ruusbroec Institute Library has its own reading room, in which many of the most important reference works are available on open shelves, and which is facilitated by wireless internet connection.

Requests

The collection of the Ruusbroec Institute Library is incorporated in the Anet catalogue (the network of academic and special libraries in the Antwerpen-Limburg region). In this catalogue the books of the Ruusbroec Institute Library are marked with 'Universiteit Antwerpen Stadscampus' and the abbreviation RG (Ruusbroecgenootschap). You can request an item by clicking the button 'document request'. After your request has been handled, you will receive a message.

In order to consult items at the University of Antwerp libraries you will need a valid library card. If you are not yet registered, you can request a library card at the main desk on the ground floor of the University Library. You will receive a user identification code and a matching password, with which you can request items via the online catalogue.

Loans and Consultation

Most books can be borrowed, unless indicated otherwise in the catalogue. In general, reference works (e.g. dictionaries and encyclopedias), journals, rare items and archives cannot be borrowed. We follow the rules and regulations of the University Library: Loan.

You can extend the loan period for a book up to three times. Renewals must be made before the current loan period has expired. You can renew your loan:

Items from our Special Collections are not available for loan and can only be consulted under supervision in the reading room. Please announce your visit by filling in this form.
