Studying host responses in COVID-19 acute and long-term sequalae as well as bacterial pneumonia to elucidate disease pathogenesis and study diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. This includes soluble blood biomarkers, such as cytokines, chemokines and growth factors, antibodies and immune cells. Host-pathogen interactions are also studied in vitro utilizing pathogen-host cell co-cultures and in animal models.
