Cable bacteria have a unique metabolism that involves electron transport through conductive fibers in their cell wall. These fibers show exceptional conductivity for a biological material and my research focusses their structure and composition. I mainly use microscopy (cryo-electron microscopy, AFM etc.) and chemical imaging techniques (Raman spectroscopy, TOF-SIMS etc.).
