I am an intellectual historian focussing mainly on early modern Europe. My primary interest is in tracing how individual ideas became widely accepted intellectual practices through long-term, generational change. My current project as an FWO postdoc studies how a new conceptualisation of history as a critical and factual object of research was perpetuated by Catholic scholars in the late seventeenth century. It does so by focussing on the theologian and historian Enrico Noris (1631-1704) and his intellectual circles in France, Belgium, and Italy.
