My main research interest relates to the area of language and politics. The focus of my research is English as a lingua franca in a globalizing academic context, and the perceived loss (or gain) of identity in non-English speaking language areas. My other research interests include sociolinguistics and discourse analysis.
I hold a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Lancaster University. Previously I studied English and German (‘Germanic Philology’), international politics, and philosophy. Apart from my research, I am involved in language teaching and testing. Currently I teach Academic English for International Students.
