Expertise

Hello everyone!! I am Humayun, a postdoctoral fellow at Intelligence in Processes, Advanced Catalysts and Solvents (iPRACS). I have recently finished my PhD in Chemical Engineering at Monash University, Australia. During my PhD, my research was focused on the challenges associated with the utilization of nanocellulose films for large scale production. During my four years of research, I have gained expertise in a multidisciplinary areas including nanocellulose-based composites for packaging, wastewater treatment and for membrane applications. Additionally, I also gained expertise in high barrier materials, documenting life cycle assessment of nanocellulose and its composites. I have also developed expertise in recycling of nanocellulose films in the context of circular economy. Prior to joining Monash University, I did my masters from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. The focus of my research during my masters was developing tiles from recycled and waste materials such as fly ash and waste vegetable oil. These biobased tiles showed a low environmental impact as compared with the conventional cementitious tiles. Additionally, I also worked in collaboration on research projects such as CO2 capture and utilization and production of tiles from waste engine oil. During my bachelors degree, our group was focused on developing sodium silicate from waste materials such as rice husk ash and therefore, I have gained expertise related to recycling and waste management during my final year project.
