Expertise
Isadora is a postdoctoral researcher in the Environmental Economics group. She holds a PhD in Bioscience Engineering: Environmental Sciences and Technology from Ghent University, and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Sustainability for the Built Environment from UFRGS (Brazil). Her core expertise lies in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), covering both attributional and consequential LCA. She has applied these methods to various sectors, including construction materials, urban transport systems, and energy system modeling and emerging technologies. Her work focuses on quantifying environmental impacts and understanding the broader sustainability implications of materials and technologies across their life cycles. Additionally, Isadora conducts research on critical raw materials (CRMs), particularly their supply chain risks and how they are represented in LCA through criticality assessment. This involves integrating indicators related to supply disruption, economic importance, and environmental burden into sustainability evaluations. Since joining the EnvEcon group, she has been expanding her research to include economic assessment of innovative technologies, exploring how the availability and sourcing of CRMs influence investment decisions for a sustainable and resilient future in both the European Union and developing countries. Her research activities involve: -Conducting detailed LCA studies across sectors and regions -Performing criticality assessments of materials and technologies -Integrating environmental and economic analysis for policy-relevant insights -Supporting decision-making tools for sustainable technology deployment
