Diversity Monitor NPO
Abstract
The project Diversity Monitor NPO provides an independent and reliable account of the diversity (regarding sex, bicultural background, age, disability) as it is observable for viewers and listeners of the programs of NPO and the public broadcasters in The Netherlands. This is done for genres specified by NPO, and it can be about both television and radio programs. In 2021, the project provides a null measurement, but the project intends to be comparative over time in the future.Researcher(s)

Abstract
The Diversity Monitor project collects, analyzes and reports on the visibility of various forms of diversity in television programs on the channels of the Flemish public broadcasting channel VRT. Applying quantitative content analysis on an independently determined constructed sample throughout the whole year, the presence of various ethnic groups, age groups, gender and handicap are scrutinized, and compared with the minimal benchmarks the Flemish government and the public broadcaster have agreed upon, as well as the results from previous years.Researcher(s)
