Lith Lefranc is working as a PhD researcher under the supervision of Ilja Van Damme and Mike Kestemont. In her research, she explores the impact of urban modernisation processes on the social stratification of Antwerp nightlife through data-driven methods. By adopting computational techniques to a large corpus of local police reports (1870-1940), she tries to grasp the social dynamics that shaped the nocturnal landscape in the past and hopes to create new perspectives on after-dark street use. Other research interests: socialist people’s houses, gender and the Flemish movement
