Nele Kindt is central valorisation manager life sciences, focusing on pharmaceuticals and biotechnology projects. I am the liaison between researchers from the Antwerp University Association (AUHA) and the business community and I want to translate the fundamental research performed by our groups into relevant projects for society. I do this by helping to set up collaborations with industry, negotiating contracts or creating a spin-off. I obtained a PhD in biomedical sciences at KULeuven, and after my PhD, I started working in biotech companies. I have been working first as a scientist, specialising in in vivo translational models and later on in more senior roles, also as CEO of a start-up company. In that role, I acquired hands on expertise in the different aspects and challenges of managing a young biotech company.
IOF Valorisation Life Sciences
AbstractMultiple AUHA research groups are working together with private partners in the domain of life sciences. Some of them are integrated in IOF-consortia and supported by a dedicated IOF fellow. The professors within the faculties Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences and Medicine and Health Sciences, which are not embedded in the IOF consortia but have a high need for dedicated valorization support, will be supported by this IOF-fellow. Those projects are mainly in the field of biomarker research, biological tools, exploitation of analytical methods, in vitro and in vivo models, medical devices, E-health and rehabilitation sciences.
