A taste of Digital Text Analysis

As part of the programme students will get a shared task. This is a competition in which the students, in groups of three, try to solve the same problem using artificial intelligence. In 2022 we worked on the automatic detection of hate speech and toxic language in messages on social media. The students competed in two rankings: one general competition and one based on a dataset provided by clip-spinoff Textgain. Tom De Smedt of Textgain came to tell our students about their own research on hate speech detection and to honour the winner of their competition. Afterwards, Sara Budts honoured the winners of our own competition.
