The Antwerp Social Lab Day is a domain-specific training event aimed at early-career researchers who want to explore psychophysiological and behavioral research methods, gain hands-on insights, and receive expert feedback on their work. This edition of the training will focus on two core research methods: eye-tracking and psychophysiology. Eye-tracking research uses infrared sensors to measure and analyze eye movements, providing detailed insights into attention, learning, and perception. Psychophysiological research involves measuring physiological signals such as heart rate, skin conductance, and brain activity, and linking them to cognitive and emotional processes. Both approaches provide powerful tools for understanding human behavior and experience.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Leen Catrysse from the Open University (Netherlands) and Prof. Dr. Rob Potter from The Ohio State University (USA) as keynote speakers. Dr. Catrysse will share her expertise in eye-tracking and learning strategies, highlighting how eye-tracking can reveal differences in cognitive processing during learning tasks. Prof. Dr. Potter will discuss psychophysiological measurement techniques and their application in media research, drawing from his extensive experience and his work at the PANAM Lab. Both speakers will provide in-depth methodological insights, making their sessions highly relevant for researchers across the social sciences and humanities.
The day is divided into two main parts. The morning will feature keynote sessions, during which the invited experts will present their work and explore the latest methodological developments in their respective fields. In the afternoon, early-career researchers will have the opportunity to participate in feedback sessions. These sessions provide a unique chance to present ongoing or planned projects, receive constructive feedback, and engage in discussion with both the speakers and experienced mentors. This interactive format is designed to enhance research quality, foster collaboration, and support the professional development of young researchers.
The Antwerp Social Lab Day offers a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts, gain practical knowledge, and connect with peers and specialists across disciplines. By combining in-depth presentations with interactive feedback, the day is designed to inspire new ideas, strengthen research projects, and provide participants with valuable tools to advance their work.
