Pharmacodynamic in vitro study of the effects of growth factors and inhibitors on human adult bone marrow-, cord blood- and fetal liver derived hematopoietic stem cells. 01/10/1998 - 31/08/1999

Abstract

There are two main objectives in this study: first, the effects of different growth factors and inhibitors on subpopulations of human hematopoietic stem cells, derived from ontogenetic different sources, will be investigated. Next, we will examine whether these subpopulations can be used as targets for gene therapy and whether they can be transduced using adeno-associated virus. The following techniques will be used: flow-cytometry, in vitro cell culture, gene transduction, DNA- and RNA-PCR.
