Expertise
My research activities are focused on two domains, namely competency-based healthcare education and the profession of midwifery. The first domain encompasses all healthcare professions, and my interest primarily lies in workplace learning. Scientific research in healthcare education is situated at the intersection of pedagogical sciences and healthcare. In Flanders, it is a less recognized discipline compared to some neighbouring countries such as the Netherlands, where I also obtained my doctorate. Within the field of midwifery, I conduct research on topics related to midwifery competencies as well as specific subjects within the broad scope of midwifery practice. Most of my research is qualitative, but I also have a keen interest in quantitative research.
