Stef Espeel is a postdoctoral researcher on the topic of plague in the late Middle Ages. He obtained his MA in history at Ghent University (2016) and his PhD from the University of Antwerp (2021) with a dissertation entitled “Prices and Crises. The Grain Economy in Fourteenth-Century Flanders” (supervisors: Prof Tim Soens (UA) & Prof Alexis Wilkin (ULB)). More information on this project can be found on the project website. Previously, he worked as a postdoc on the FREE (Food Crisis Middle Ages) project at the State Archives and ULB (2021-22).
