Steve Paulussen is an associate professor in media and journalism studies at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Antwerp. He is member of the research group Media, Policy and Culture (MPC). Between 2000 and 2012 he was a researcher at Ghent University, where he worked in the research group for Media & ICT (iMinds-MICT) and the Center for Journalism Studies (CJS). He also held part-time lecturer positions at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2008-2012) and Erasmus University College Brussels (2012). Most of his publications focus on different aspects of online journalism, participatory journalism, the professional profile of journalists, new media consumption and newsroom innovations. He is currently involved as a supervisor in PhD research projects on the role of social media and data in news and journalism (Michiel Johnson and Kenza Lamot), citizen media practices (Stevan Bodrozic), the media representation of human rights issues (Robin Reul) and advertising and business models for news media (Simone Krouwer and Dorien Luyckx).
