Quality of life after cancer treatment

Scientific progress ensures that cancer patients survive longer. That's good news! However, this also brings new challenges. For example, there are the lingering effects of the cancer itself and / or cancer treatment that have a negative impact on the quality of life. Well-known examples are persistent fatigue, less muscle mass & strength, more difficult to tolerate, pain, tingling in toes and fingers, thick limbs (lymphedema) after the removal of lymph nodes, muscle and joint problems, and heart problems.

Our approach

Many cancer survivors lose a great deal of their quality of life. And we want to do something about it. The MOVANT (Movement Antwerp) research group focuses on research of how these side effects arise, so that we can develop better ways to prevent and treat them. This is how we want to return quality of life to survivors. We need extra resources to accelerate our research (both clinical and fundamental) into better and more promising lifestyle strategies. Your gift is crucial in our struggle to guarantee the best possible quality of life for all cancer survivors.
