We are proud to announce the establishment of the "Jean-Pierre Blumberg" chair at the University of Antwerp; a fitting tribute to the late Jean-Pierre Blumberg. Jean-Pierre, a leading Belgian lawyer and music lover, had an indefatigable curiosity about law and people; as Ludwig von Beethoven put it: "Drive hard, not only above art, but also in your innermost being; it deserves it."

Jean-Pierre wasn't just a business lawyer; he also constantly sought to uncover the secrets of law. He also strove to discover the passions of everyone he met—so everyone had something to enrich their life.

Jean-Pierre contributed significantly to shaping the Belgian business landscape as we know it today. The chair bearing his name was established to preserve his legacy and to commemorate Jean-Pierre as a business lawyer, executive, and academic, and how, through these roles, he became an icon for international corporate law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and capital markets law.

The chair reflects Jean-Pierre's vision: to look out from Antwerp at his beloved Europe and beyond, with the aim of gaining insight into law, economics, business, and corporate governance , and thus offering research, education, and services in these areas that can benefit society as a whole.
