With this chair, the University of Antwerp, the Alderman for Education, and the teacher training programs within the Antwerp University & Universities Association (AUHA) are joining forces. Together, they aim to provide new ideas, visions, and strategies to give education a contemporary profile that benefits emerging societal needs.
This chair contributes to:
- a better understanding of urban problems and the consequences for education;
- developing a broad vision on education and educational innovation in relation to the urban fabric;
- strategies to implement, disseminate and evaluate this innovation with all stakeholders.
In consultation with the city council and teacher training colleges, a chair is organized four times a year. Renowned experts give lectures on the role of education in a metropolitan context. These lectures are followed by a workshop the following day.
