The “Interuniversity Chair in Customs Law” primarily provides scientific support to the multidisciplinary commission for the revision of the sanction policy on customs and excise, which was established in May 2024 at the request of the Minister of Finance.
The research activities within the Chair are intended to result in proposals for reform of the existing regulations. In addition, other customs law issues may also become the subject of specific research.
The Chair has two objectives:
- The Chair provides a platform for research and services on new developments and challenges relating to European and Belgian customs and excise law.
- The Chair will contribute scientifically to the multidisciplinary commission for the revision of customs sanction policy, as well as to other customs law issues.
