Eric Van Dooren is a judge at the Court of Cassation and an academic expert in customs and excise law. He is a senior lecturer at the University of Antwerp, where he teaches customs law and is closely involved in specialized training within this field. His work is situated at the intersection of customs law, criminal law, and tax law in the context of the growing complexity of supranational and international regulations.

His publications focus on customs procedures and sanction law. He is the author of, among others, the periodically updated legislative compendium “Customs and Excise”, a standard reference work for legal professionals and administrations in the field. He is affiliated with the Law Enforcement Research Group of the Faculty of Law.
