Research at Department of Mathematics

Doing a PhD at the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science is strongly intertwined with the research activities of the department. Candidates are expected to build up a broad general and very extensive specific knowledge in the chosen knowledge domain during and after their PhD. Performing research independently is another requirement.

Applied Mathematics

The Applied Mathematics research team is committed to developing, analyzing and implementing numerical and mathematical methods and algorithms for large-scale simulations with applications in real-life scientific, financial and industrial problems. The main focus lies on the study various types of multivariate and multi-dimensional partial differential equations (PDEs), which are of key importance in mathematics and a broad variety of application areas. Read more...
