Jagende mens maakte van Bever een nachtbraker.

Als we de Bever tegenwoordig kennen als een nachtdier, dan is dat de schuld van onze voorouders, die de dieren gedurende duizenden jaren bejaagden. Bevers zouden overdag nochtans beter presteren. Dat blijkt uit een studie met uitgebreide video-analyses van de Universiteit Antwerpen, die verschijnt in het wetenschappelijk vakblad Mammalian Biology.

New York Rats

When Superstorm Sandy hit New York and flooded the subway tunnels, fear existed that millions of rats would surface in the streets. Prof. Herwig Leirs was interviewed on the matter by a New York journalist and predicted that most rats would actually drown (1) and that opinion was copied to many other US media (2).  He was also interviewed on a Belgian television station (3).
