Role and expertise
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Antwerp. In July 2026, I obtained my PhD with research on the composition of balanced nursing teams. My expertise lies in nursing and healthcare organization research, with a strong focus on methodology, statistics, and data analysis. In my work, I apply quantitative analytical techniques, systems thinking, and simulation- and data-driven models, including agent-based modelling.
Motivation
Decisions about workforce deployment and healthcare organization are often based on simplified indicators. My research aims to better capture this complexity and to make methodologically robust analyses more accessible to both research and practice.
Research focus
During my doctoral research, I studied how team composition, collaboration, and care demand are associated with care outcomes in nursing teams. I also developed statistical and data-driven methods that go beyond traditional staffing ratios and single-indicator approaches. In my postdoctoral research, my focus has shifted towards infectious disease modelling and the health economic evaluation of infectious disease interventions.
Teaching contributions
I contribute to teaching within the Master of Nursing and Midwifery, particularly in the course ‘Actuele en Complexe onderzoeksmethodologie’. I also teach on the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare and education.
Services and collaboration
I collaborate with researchers and healthcare organisations by providing methodological expertise in study design, statistical analysis, and interpretation of results. In addition, I support the implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning, the development of simulation and digital twin models, and the translation of complex data into practical, evidence-informed insights that can support decision-making in education, research, and clinical practice.
