Dr. Ann Crabbé is a senior researcher and member of the research group Environment & Society of the University of Antwerp. Ann has a bachelor degree in sociology (1998), a master degree in public administration (2000) and since 2008, she is doctor in political and social sciences. Her doctoral thesis was on the institutionalization of river basin management and integrated water policy in Flanders. The introduction and evolution of new modes of governance, explaining institutional stability and change, and developing and implementing methods for policy evaluation are her main research topics. Ann Crabbé is promoter of STAR-FLOOD, an project financed by the European Union (FP7) that runs from 1 October 2012 until 31 March 2016. STAR-FLOOD focuses on strategies to better deal with flood risks in urban agglomerations. Flood risk management strategies in 18 cities, spread over six EU Member States are analyzed, explained, evaluated and designed. Ann is also involved in SuMMa, a centre for policy relevant research financed by the Flemish government (2012-2015). In SuMMa, Ann’s work concerns analyzing and explaining the institutionalization of Flemish policies on sustainable materials management from a transition perspective.
