Ariël is a doctoral researcher at the University of Antwerp and Ghent University, where she is pursuing a PhD in legal theory. Her dissertation, funded by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO), is entitled “Masculinity as Property” and explores how legal frameworks may shape and reflect societal understandings of masculinity. Drawing on interdisciplinary methods, her research utilizes the legal concept of property as a heuristic tool to consider the implications this has for individuals of various identities. In this way, she investigates how legal structures may influence social dynamics.
