Abstract

Logistics activities in Flanders are constantly increasing. This evolution supports our prosperity and will continue.This growth translates into more transport and expansion of logistics capacity transport infrastructure logistics buildings goods handling zones: terminals, car parks, bulk storage (raw materials and waste) logistics business parks. This evolution is reinforced by the transition to circular economy. This project aims to make logistics business parks and real estate more sustainable in terms of space, mobility, drought, climate and nature by stimulating, testing and publicizing innovative solutions for rational and circular use of space, resources and infrastructure and the collaboration and business models that support these solutions. Within this collaboration with VIL, VITO and VLAKWA, UA focuses on making land use, mobility and biodiversity of business parks more sustainable.

Abstract

The purpose of this cooperation agreement is to examine the spatial planning issue in the Rupel region in the context of developments within Flanders Technology & Innovation. The Department of Culture, Youth and Media wants to gain insight into the spatial planning and associated creative possibilities in terms of mobility and economic development in the Rupel region and more specifically in Boom and Rumst. The potential of this area will be investigated in order to anchor the Flemish innovative entertainment sector on the one hand and to realize a broad social upgrading of the Rupel region on the other hand.
