Dr. Kim Overlaet (°87) has joined the Department of History at Antwerp University as research manager in October 2020. She is responsible for facilitating and stimulating (international & interdisciplinary) research collaborations between members of both research groups: the Centre for Urban History (CSG) and Power in History - the Centre for Political History (Po-His). Her tasks include the exploration of funding opportunities, a close follow-up of project applications as well as the coordination and support of running research projects.
Kim completed her Master degree in History in 2009 at Antwerp University. In 2015 she defended her PhD dissertation on family networks and kinship relations in sixteenth-century Mechelen (University of Antwerp, Centre for Urban History). Since then, she has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam (History Department) and the University of Lund (Economic History Department).
