Maite is a PhD candidate in History and Applied Economics under the supervision of Oscar Gelderblom and Marc Deloof, within the Social History of Finance project. Maite researches notarised lending in the province of Antwerp during the 19th century, focusing on its long term evolution in the context of institutional and economic transformations. She studies, among other, how notarised lending interacted with bank lending, and how new forms of payments spread across the Belgian population. Other interests include household finance, history of central banks, colonialism, and monetary policy.
