Calling all international students! You have been in Antwerp for a few weeks now and you have probably experienced that adapting to a new culture and a new academic environment is not without difficulty. Perhaps you have struggled with homesickness, language barriers, isolation, misunderstandings due to cultural differences and prejudices.

The University of Antwerp is well aware of the difficulties you may experience as an international student in Antwerp and therefore wants to help you digest the culture shock and adapt to your new environment. We have invited experts to give a training session on international and intercultural competencies. They will cover a wide range of topics, including culture and prejudice, privilege vs. discrimination, deconstructing myths about racism, inequality, adaptation to Belgium etc.

This training is open to all international degree students enrolled in an English-taught study programme at the university. It will take place as an interactive workshop of 2.5 hours on campus. You can choose to attend the live session on one of the following dates:

17/11/2021, 10:30 to 13:00, campus Drie Eiken

22/11/2021, 18:30 to 21:00, campus Drie Eiken

25/11/2021, 12:00 to 14:30, Stadscampus

Participation is on a voluntary basis and free of charge. You will have the opportunity to share your experiences with and learn from international students from other faculties at the university in a safe and confidential environment.
