Doctoral Day 2020

Doctoral Day 2020 'Light' – 26th October 2020

Covid-19 forced us to be inventive and for a long time it looked as if we had to let our doctoral day continue virtually. Luckily our colleagues at Hof van Liere facilitated the opportunity to implement a physical, ‘light’ version. Light and corona-proof.

Of course the number of participants per room will be limited and catering will also be organised differently. No walking buffet … rather a seated and safer version. Distance and hygienic rules will be respected.

Preliminary programme

  • Welcome - Introduction (9.15 - 9.30 uur)

  • Parallel sessions -  PhD presentations (9.30 - 12.00 uur)

  • Lunch

  • Publication strategies for Design Sciences (ADOC) (13.30 - 14.15 uur)
This information session aims to help researchers in different disciplines of the Social Sciences and the Humanities to develop a well-considered publication strategy. The information session tackles the questions: ‘What/when to publish?’, ‘Where to publish?’, and ‘How to increase impact?’

  • Lecture prof. dr. Rousseau (14.15 - 15.00 uur)
Prof. dr. Rousseau is one of the foremost researchers in the field of scientometrics, an expert in citation analysis and research evaluation. He will talk to us about becoming metric-wise, i.e. what instruments do academic evaluators use and what do they mean for us and our research. Ronald, convinced that content is still key, will also elaborate on the non-measurable output of your research.

  • Talent center (DP&O) (15.20 - 15.50 uur)
The Talent Center (HR Departement) was launched in 2017 as an internal career center for PhD students and postdocs. Its mission is to encourage and support early-career researchers to reflect on and steer their (future) career. To this purpose, the Talent Center organizes career counseling, training and other initiatives that are tailor-made to early-career researchers. In this session, we will present our service offer and give a hint of what career development is all about.

  • Closing drink (16.00 - 17.00 uur)
