Dutch as a Foreign Language

Resits

Students who do not pass all of their exams are welcome to take a resit.

This is subject to strict conditions:

  1. You must take the resit within 6 months after the end of your course.
  2. You can only take a resit once.
  3. You can only take a resit if you failed a maximum of two of your exam components. Please note: If you failed both your speaking and writing exams, it is not possible to take a resit.
You can only take a resit on the Stadscampus, not online, not even if you are staying abroad.
If you only need to take a resit for your speaking exam, you can do so exceptionally online.

Deferred exams

If there is a good reason why you can’t take the final exams as scheduled, you can defer your exams and take them at a later date. Examples of accepted reasons include illness, quarantine, a trip abroad or your Linguapolis exam coinciding with another exam you have to take.

This is subject to strict conditions:

  1. You must take the deferred exam within 6 months after the end of your course.
  2. You can only register for a deferred exam if you have valid proof of the reason for your absence on the original exam date (e.g. doctor's note, airline ticket, statement from your employer, exam schedule for your study programme).

Please note that you can't defer a listening exam. If you did not participate in the listening exam, the score for this exam will be based on continuous evaluation.

You can only take a deferred exam on the Stadcampus, not online, not even if you are staying abroad.
If you only need to defer your speaking exam, you can do so exceptionally online.

Registration

If you want to take a resit or deferred exam, you can register by sending an email to nederlands@linguapolis.be. Clearly state the session's dates for which you wish to register. Furthermore, attach a valid proof of absence if registering for a deferred exam.

You will need to pay an administration fee for resits and deferred exams.

Practical information

All resits and deferred exams take place on the Stadscampus in Antwerp’s city centre. The speaking exam takes about 15 minutes and is by appointment only. The secretary’s office will make an appointment for you.

About one week before the exam, you will receive an email telling you exactly which classroom to go to (and the exact time for the speaking exam, if applicable).
