Health insurance
All students should have adequate health insurance to cover their stay in Antwerp. Although the University of Antwerp does offer accident-liability insurance to all its students, your health insurance is not covered, so please make sure you are sufficiently insured. Check with your own health insurance what is covered abroad during your stay in Belgium, and whether you need to arrange additional insurance.
Health care
If you're sick, you can look up information about your regular doctor, an on-call doctor, or even, in urgent cases, where you can go to an emergency department.
Check with your personal health insurance how you can get reimbursed for the appointment itself and for prescription medical drugs.
If you hold a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), you can find all information about healthcare and insurance using that card on the website of the European Commission.
