In Q4 2026, we started rolling out a new image with Rocky Linux 10 on a small number of our Vaughan compute nodes.
Changes include:
- currently installed version: Rocky Linux 10.2 (Red Quartz)
- new versions of kernel packages, drivers, and system installed user packages
- [TBD] update of Slurm to version 26.xx.y (and of PMIx to version 5 or 6)
- only toolchain versions 2025a and above will be available
We ask our users to start testing the new operating system and to let us know your experience.
Users will need to:
- start using modules from 2025a or above
- recompile their code and/or recreate their (virtual) environments
- check that their code still runs (including performance tests)
- update job scripts (if needed)
Starting in October 2026, there will be a free test period for jobs running within the rocky10 reservation (details will follow).
The migration timeline has not yet been decided (but expect this to be somewhere in H1 2027).
