Bio
Técio Martins is an architect and urbanist with designing experiences in several architecture groups, such as Espressa Oficina, based in Salvador, Bahia, of which he is co-founder. During his career, collaborated in several projects for private and public organisations, in different scales, and has dedicated special emphasis to both national and international design competitions.
After a master thesis (University of Brasilia, 2020) that studied the role of architects in social housing programmes in Brazil, since 2023 (Federal University of Bahia), for PhD studies, researches the importance of writing in architecture and how archives contribute in formulating the environment for design, specifically in public projects.
Favourite (interior) architecture project
Respecting the history of the building - even the period when it was a ruin -, the project turned a former ruin into a ceremonial. By using materials often encountered in Brazilian colonial architecture combined with contemporary ones, original environment and characteristics were maintained with a result that brings a flexible use. The restoration project, led by A+P Arquitetos Associados.
