October 2025 - Antwerp
The Antwerp Research Institute for the Arts (ARIA) starts the academic year 2025-2026 with a month full of lectures, debates, performances, exhibitions, workshops and open classes on research in the arts. This research on the intersection of science and fiction highlights the importance of imagination, intuition, aesthetics and design for science and society.

Research in the arts lays the foundation for a 'sensitive science' that seeks solutions for current ecological, technological, cultural and social problems through critical pedagogy, ecopoetics, radical hospitality, cooking and digital sound sculptures. Art is much more than entertainment and culture is much more than a leisure activity. Artists make substantial contributions to our ecosystem and our ways of living together. In the month leading up to research in the arts, ARIA puts the potential of research in the arts in the spotlight for both specialists and the general public.
13-24 October 2025

'What if…' - Articulate Research Week at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp
Artists, researchers, experts, and students will explore the relationship between art, research and society. The program emphasizes collaboration, participation, the importance of interpersonal relationships, activism, and engagement, rather than focusing solely on self-centered artistic work. Featuring a selection of research classes, alongside a series of public events and moments, ARTICULATE2025 will highlight and deepen key aspects of artistic practices and research.
With ARIA PhD researchers Tomer Damsky, Alastair Matthews, Chiara Percivati, Emil Gryesten and Anne-Lise Brévers.
20-25 October 2025
Sint Lucas Antwerpen Research Week
During the Research Week 2025, Sint Lucas Antwerpen is organising a series of public moments around artistic research, with a particular focus on climate politics, AI, religion, film, collective practices and activism. Several ARIA PhD students and members will present work, engage in dialogue or publicly defend their research.
With ARIA PhD researchers Mona Hedayati, Pierre-Antoine Vettorello, Dimitri Van den Wittenboer, Bianca Baldi, Danial Shah and Việt Vũ.
