About Vaccine Preventable Diseases
Vaccine-preventable diseases remain a major cause of avoidable illness and death worldwide, especially in low- and middle-income countries where health systems are fragile and inequities in access to immunisation persist. By developing, evaluating and optimising vaccines and immunisation strategies, our research group on vaccine-preventable diseases at the Global Health Institute aims to reduce this burden across the life course, from pregnancy and early childhood through adulthood, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations in the Global South. Working in close collaboration with international partners, we generate evidence on disease epidemiology, immune responses and vaccine impact to inform policy, strengthen routine immunisation programmes and contribute to more resilient, equitable health systems.
