Global Health Institute, Antwerp (GHI)

At the start of the academic year 2015-'16 the "Global Health Institute of Antwerp" or simply "GHI" was founded at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Antwerp. It originated from the International Health Unit, establised in 2009. This new institute was set up by three professors Jean-Pierre Van geertruyden, Annelies Van Rie and Robert Colebunders (emeritus). They have a very extensive network of organizations, universities and researchers and bring together a wide range of funds. The focus of GHI is to become a trademark for all disciplines that develop academic 'global health' activities. Therefore it aims at interdisciplinary cooperation with other departments and faculties, as well as internationally.
