Global Health Institute, Antwerp (GHI)

At the start of the new academic year 2015-2016 the "Global Health Institute of Antwerp" or simply "GHI" was founded at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Antwerp. It originated from the International Health Unit, establised in 2009. This new institute was set up by three professors Van geertruyden, Van Rie and Colebunders (emeritus). They have a very extenstive network of organizations, universities and researchers and bring together a wide range of funds. The focus of GHI is to become a trademark for all disciplines that develop academic 'global health' activities. Therefore it aims at interdisciplinary cooperation with other departments and faculties, as well as internationally.
