Objectives
The Digital Europe Programme is a key EU funding instrument to bridge the gap between digital technology research and market deployment, it brings digital technology to businesses, citizens and public administrations. It aims to speed up the digital transformation of Europe’s society and economy, bringing benefits to everyone, but in particular to small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Digital Europe Programme focusses on five key areas:
- Supercomputing;
- Artificial intelligence;
- Cybersecurity;
- Advanced digital skills;
- Ensuring a wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society.
The Digital Europe Programme is complementary to the Horizon Europe framework programme for research and innovation. While Horizon Europe supports the research on digital technologies and innovations, the Digital Europe Programme focusses at accelerating innovations and adopting them across the economy and society.
For whom?
For various types of organisations (public services, government institutions, public and private companies), including universities.
Duration and budget
The duration of projects usually varies between 12 and 48 months. The call text usually mentions an indicative project duration.
The budget varies depending on the call.
The EU contribution varies depending on the call and can cover only a part of the eligible costs.
Interested researchers should timely contact the Grants Office of Research, Innovation & Valorisation Antwerp (RIVA) to discuss co-funding arrangements and to get clearance.

Proposals are submitted through the EU Funding and Tenders Portal.
