De COVID-19 International Student Well-being Study (C19 ISWS) maakt gebruik van mixed methods om het welbevinden van studenten in het hoger onderwijs in tijden van corona in kaart te brengen.
De eerste golf van de C19 ISWS, georganiseerd tijdens de eerste golf van de COVID-19 pandemie, bevroeg meer dan 100.000 studenten in 125 universiteiten en hogescholen in 27 Europese, Afrikaanse, en Noord-Amerikaanse landen. Binnen de Vlaamse gemeenschap nam de meerderheid van de onderwijsinstellingen deel.
Een tweede golf werd georganiseerd in het voorjaar van 2021 in een selectie van de onderwijsinstellingen. Hoewel de belangrijkste focus van deze tweede golf het welzijn van studenten bleef, werd een extra module toegevoegd die zich richtte op gezinsdynamiek, dating life, en seksuele gezondheid bij studenten. Binnen de Universiteit Antwerpen werd deze tweede golf aangevuld met een reeks van zes focusgroepdiscussies (FGD) met relevante personeelsleden (N: 24) en zeven FGD's met kwetsbare studentengroepen (N: 48).
