Caterina Verdickt studeerde af aan de KU Leuven met haar licentiaatsverhandeling ‘Belgische kunstenaars in Groot-Brittannië tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog. 1914-1918’. In 2002 organiseerde ze samen met Robert Hoozee de tentoonstelling ‘Art in Exile. Flanders, Wales and the Great War’, MSK -NMGW. In 2002 werd ze de eerste liaison-officer van de Vlaamsekunstcollectie. Sinds 2008 is ze verbonden aan de faculteit Ontwerpwetenschappen van de Universiteit Antwerpen waar ze haar doctoraat afrondde, en sinds 2013 ‘Geschiedenis van het interieur’ doceert. In het kader van haar PhD ‘The Realm of Silence. Consequences of the Belgian artistic migration towards Great Britain during the Great War on post war Belgian interior design’ geeft ze regelmatig lezingen in voornamelijk Groot- Brittannië, oa. University of Cardiff, the University of Aberystwyth and the University of Stirling in Scotland. In 2014 werd ze uitgenodigd als keynote speaker op het ‘International Arts Festival - War’ in Gregynog. Haar onderzoek werd gepubliceerd in The British Art Journal, MOMOWO : women designers, craftswomen, architects and engineers between 1918 and 1945 (2018) en 14/18 - rupture or continuity : Belgian art around World War I (2018). Vanaf maart 2018 is ze Hoofd Collectie bij het Vlaams Architectuur instituut. (VAi)
