International Week on Sustainability for partner universities
15–19 March 2027 | 14th edition
Joining I-Week as a partner ? On this page, you'll find everything you need to know about the 2027 edition!
A great programme for your students to
- Engage with international academics, sustainability experts and CEOs on economic, ecological and ethical sustainability.
- Join an interdisciplinary debate and tackle a real-world "wicked" problem alongside students from other faculties.
- Analyse a current sustainability issue through group work with international peers (groups of six, with a supervisor and two feedback moments).
- Create and deliver a group presentation on that issue.
- Experience Antwerp first-hand.
- Connect with students from around the world and strengthen their language and intercultural skills.
It's a 3 ECTS course with a clear assessment structure:
- 80% group work and presentation, including a peer evaluation
- 20% individual assessment
The personal 3 ECTS-certificates of the students will be shared with your institution by 1 May 2027.

How does the partnership work?
There are three ways to take part in I-week as a partner. The academic-contribution options (1 and 2) are always agreed upon together with the I-Week team. Sending students is open to every partner (3):
1. Contribute a grading professor
- A grading professor is available during I-week (online or in-person), gives a workshop and supports group works
- Up to 30 students without fee, administrative fee for extra students*
- In consultation with the I-week team
2. Contribute a speaker
- The speaker provides one workshop or plenary session during I-week (online or in-person)
- Up to 15 students without fee, administrative fee for extra students*
- In consultation with the I-week team
3. Send students only
- Open to any partner
- An administrative fee applies from the first student*
Administrative partner fee
| Number of students | Administrative partner fee (total)* |
| 1–5 students | €250 |
| 6–10 students | €500 |
| 11–15 students | €750 |
| … | + €250 per additional group of 1–5 students |
* The administrative fee is due before 1 February 2027 and is the same whether your students join online or on campus.
Cancellation policy
1. Registration commitment. Partner institutions register their students by 1 December 2026. The administrative partner fee is based on the number of students registered and calculated per the applicable fee schedule. The invoice is adjusted to reflect any changes communicated before the deadlines below.
2. Student cancellations.
- Before 1 January 2027 — cancellations are free of charge; the fee is adjusted accordingly.
- Between 1 January and 1 February 2027 — cancellations can still be reported, but 50% of the fee for the cancelled places remains payable.
- After 1 February 2027 — registered numbers are final for invoicing. Students who withdraw, cancel or do not attend after this date remain included in the invoiced total. No refunds, reductions or adjustments are granted after this date.
3. Replacement of participants. Up to 1 February 2027, a registered student may be replaced by another eligible student at no extra cost, subject to approval by the University of Antwerp and provided all required information is submitted on time.
4. No-shows. Students who don't attend without prior cancellation are considered "no-shows". No refund is granted and the fee remains payable. Where a partner has a large number of no-shows, the University of Antwerp reserves the right to refuse that partner in the next edition.
5. Reduction in student numbers. The University of Antwerp reserves the right to review programme viability if participant numbers fall significantly below the expected level. In exceptional cases, programme modifications may be necessary.
6. Cancellation by the University of Antwerp. Should the University of Antwerp have to cancel I-Week due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, force majeure, or insufficient enrolment, partner institutions receive a full refund of fees already paid. The University cannot be held responsible for any additional costs incurred by participants or partners, including (but not limited to) travel, accommodation, insurance or visa-related expenses.
7. Exceptional circumstances. Requests for exceptions due to extraordinary circumstances (e.g. serious illness, force majeure or visa refusal) may be considered case by case and may require supporting documentation. Approval remains at the discretion of the University of Antwerp. The University will not be liable for any further claims, damages or losses resulting from the cancellation of a student's participation. Partners and participants are strongly encouraged to secure appropriate travel and cancellation insurance.
All refunds are processed in euros. The University of Antwerp cannot refund shortfalls due to exchange-rate fluctuations, bank charges or other transaction costs.
