Visit of the Palace of Justice

Autumn semester

On Wednesday 20 September 2023, the new intake of Master of Laws and exchange students for the academic year 2023-2024 visited the Palace of Justice in Antwerp. Honorary lawyer Bob Raets introduced the group to the Belgian legal system and gave them a tour of the building. The students were received by the Vice-President of the Bar Association of the Province of Antwerp, Jo De Meester, who explained the role of the Bar. Afterwards, the group was received by public prosecutor Sanne Raats, who briefly explained what her job entails and spoke about common criminal cases in Antwerp. Later she answered some questions regarding the criminal law system in Belgium. The visit was concluded with a lunch at FOMUcafé allowing the students to get to know each other in an informal setting.

Visit of the European Parliament

Spring semester

On Thursday 15 February 2024, the Master of Laws and exchange students for the academic year 2023-2024 visited the European Parliament in Brussels. During the guided tour, the students explored the iconic hemicycle, where European Parliamentarians debate and vote on legislation. The tour included an overview of the legislative procedures, the Parliament's role and powers, and its evolution as a key player in the European Union's decision-making process.

Semester reception

Autumn and spring semester

Each semester, we host at least one informal reception for incoming exchange students. This gathering provides an excellent opportunity for everyone to become better acquainted and for students to address any remaining questions they may have for the International Office Law.
