Assessment methods and mandatory presence
- At the Faculty of Law, students are assessed through a combination of assignments, presentations, oral exams and written exams. The specific assessment methods for each course are listed under Assessment method and criteria.
- Exams may vary in format: they can be open book or closed book, consist of open questions or multiple-choice questions, and be conducted either on paper or digitally.
- Most Advanced Courses are evaluated through continuous assessment. Attendance in these courses is mandatory. Missing even a single session may result in failing the course (unless a valid medical certificate is provided).
- For courses that list only Continuous assessment without mentioning Examination, there is no exam scheduled during the official exam period.
Christmas break (autumn semester) and Easter break (spring semester)
The Christmas and Easter breaks are regarded as study breaks. Whether you’re celebrating the holidays in Antwerp, at home, or elsewhere, keep in mind to set aside time for your studies as well.
Keyboard
We make every effort to schedule all PC exams for international students in classrooms equipped with both AZERTY and QWERTY keyboards. Bringing your own keyboard is not allowed.
Translation dictionary
A bilingual dictionary (mother tongue ⇆ English) is allowed. Internet access is usually unavailable during PC-based exams, so you need bring a paper dictionary (if you want to use one).
Legal dictionaries and other materials are only permitted if explicitly approved by the course professor.
Fraud
Unfortunately, each year some students are involved in cases of academic fraud. To avoid this, please make sure to thoroughly review the regulations on fraud, both for assignments and exams, at the start of your exchange in Antwerp.
