Customs and Excise - Continuing Education

‘Customs and Excise’ is a modular, academically oriented specialisation programme organised by the University of Antwerp (Dutch-taught part) and the University of Liège (French-taught part) in collaboration with Belgium’s FPS Finance and the private sector.  It consists of two parts: the basic programme and the advanced programme.

Each programme is taught by a team of lecturers with relevant expertise from the academic world, the government sector, the private sector and the legal profession.

In a first phase the basic programme (Dutch-taught) is organised.

Participants who succesfully completed the basic programme (or can prove that they have obtained an equivalent degree of experience) can register for the advanced programme (English taught) that is made up of eleven modules. Participants who have completed both the basic programme and all advanced modules can opt to write a thesis.

Both programmes are developed around the EU Customs Competency Framework.

The Continuous Education Customs and Excise participates in the pilot project of the European Commission to recognise academic programmes that equip students with the optimal customs competency standards. More information about this ‘EU Customs Certificate of Recognition’ label of excellence for Customs academic programmes can be found  via this link.
