Application form for students who don't need a student visa

If you don't need a student visa, you can directly register at Linguapolis:  Application form 2023-2024.

Application forms for students who need a student visa

Students accepted to the programme can start the procedure for obtaining a student visa. However, please be aware that you will need two letters of acceptance in order to apply for a student visa: (1) a letter of acceptance from Linguapolis; and (2) a letter of acceptance from a Flemish college or university for the subsequent academic year.

The application procedure for the Preparatory One-Year Dutch Programme will differ depending on which Flemish college or university you choose to continue your studies in academic year 2023-2024:

► For a Bachelor or Master programme at the University of Antwerp:

Register at: University of Antwerp 

You will automatically be forwarded to a sub-form for the Preparatory One-Year Dutch Programme. As a result, you don't need to submit a second application.​

► For a programme at the Artesis Plantijn (AP) University College:

Register at: Artesis Plantijn University College 

You will automatically be forwarded to a sub-form for the Preparatory One-Year Dutch Programme. As a result, you don't need to submit a second application.​

► For a programme at the Karel de Grote (KdG) University College:

Register at: Karel de Grote University College 

You will automatically be forwarded to a sub-form for the Preparatory One-Year Dutch Programme. As a result, you don't need to submit a second application.​

► For a programme at any other Flemish university or college:

First register at: Linguapolis (academic year 2023-2024)

Subsequently, register at the university or college of your choice (academic year 2024-2025).

What does the programme look like?

The Prep Year is a full-time programme that entitles you to a student visa for those who want to enrol for a Dutch-language study programme at a higher education institution in Belgium. You will learn Dutch from the absolute beginner level up to level 5.

  • You will attend classes for 15 hours a week during the day, Monday to Friday
  • You need to schedule sufficient time for self-study
  • You will also follow courses on Culture of the Low Countries, Academic Skills and Phonetics

If you pass the final exam, the Interuniversitaire Taaltest Nederlands voor Anderstaligen (ITNA, Interuniversity Language Test: Dutch as a Foreign Language), you can enrol for a study programme at a higher education institution in Flanders.

What enrolment conditions must you meet?

To submit your application, you must meet a number of strict enrolment conditions. For example, you must have successfully completed high school and be proficient in English at an intermediate level.

Info for Ukrainian nationals

For our admission purposes, all Ukrainian nationals will be considered as EEA nationals. You can apply until 31 August 2023 (instead of 1 March 2023). 

The tuition fees payable will be equivalent to those for EEA nationals if you have temporary protection status at the time of enrolment. 

How do I submit an application?

Every year you can submit your application starting from November. Please keep the following deadlines in mind:

  • Do you need a student visa? Start the visa process as soon as possible, and submit your application by 1 March 2023.
  • Don’t need a student visa? Submit your application by August 31, 2023.
