The Master of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy in Neurological Conditions comprises 120 ECTS credits (or study points), which is equivalent to two years’ full time study if the model plan is followed. It is possible to follow a part-time track, and complete the programme in three or four years instead of two years.
The compulsory courses in the first year will help you to integrate your existing knowledge within the field of physiotherapy. The programme covers a wide range of topics such as:
- Specific Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy
- Concepts of Sports Physiotherapy
- Vascular Pathology
Additionally, you will spend 12 weeks (16 ECTS) on clinical internships during which you will acquire practical knowledge within private practices or hospitals in Belgium or abroad.
You will conclude your first year with a Master’s thesis that is based on a systematic literature review related to a topic within the broad area of neurological conditions.
In the second year all courses are related to the field of neurological conditions. During the first semester you will focus on the theoretical aspects of advanced methods in neurological rehabilitation. During the second semester you will do internships (13 weeks) and write an evidence-based practice case report.
During the second part of the Master’s thesis you will conduct scientific research (preferably in line with the thesis of year 1) within the domain of rehabilitation and physiotherapy, analyse data and publish the results as a scientific paper.
The second year of this programme is highly specialised and organised in collaboration with other universities in Flanders.
