When you come to work at the University of Antwerp, without effectively being employed by the university, and you still receive a salary from your home university, your employer in your home country must register for the Limosa declaration. Any form of employment in which an employee receives a salary from abroad, or in which an employee is seconded to Belgium, must be declared to the Belgian authorities.
The purpose of the Limosa declaration is to create a central database of foreign employees in Belgium and to facilitate the free movement of these foreign workers by means of administrative streamlining.
Foreign employers who second salaried employees/researchers to Belgium must provide a declaration via the website www.limosa.be. A Limosa-1 proof of receipt will immediately be issued. This document may be requested during registration with the Immigration Office in the case of long-term stays in Belgium and must also be sent to your HR Officer in the University of Antwerp’s Human Resources Department.
In case you have problems or you need advice about the Limosa registration, please contact the International Staff Office.
